Allied Production Industries (API) was formed in 1996 as a privately owned company with engineering and manufacturing interests. In 2006, API concluded an agreement with Pamodzi Investment Holdings (PIH) resulting in the formation of Pamodzi Industrials, a black owned and controlled company.

Pamodzi was was founded by black South African professionals and entrepreneurs and has raised R16 billion in equity and debt funding in the past 10 years.
